The rocks aren't very comfortable to step on. Blaze, who didn't come here often, was taking each step joyfully but cautiously due to the sharp shells hidden in the sand. The sand was quite a different feeling under his paws each time he came here. It was always so soft. He was used to hard ground, trees, or rooftops; not this soft and almost luxurious sand. He would come here particularly during times that his shoulder would start to hurt. He took in a deep breath of the salty air and sat down. It was a really relaxing spot, which he quite enjoyed. Though most of the time it was covered with people and their screaming kids. How inconsiderate they are. Blaze would happily play with them if they would stop picking him up and trying to keep him. His blue eyes glistened as he watched the waves go back an forth with a slow mesmerizing pulse.

Frost hated being out of the city. She hated being here, out in the open, vulnerable and easily spotted. She hated the way the wind rustled the grass around her and she tensed, not knowing what was around the corner. The sea breeze blew against her face with a salty sting and she flattened her ears uncomfortably against her head. Yet, even hating this expanse of land, she hated herself more for finding sanctuary in the city, below the uniform houses of humans, paw pads against the sticky, hard black ground that humans had created. She hated them so much, and yet, she needed them to survive. She was the embodiment of hypocrisy, and she soured at the fact. Where would she find mice and birds, if humans left no food behind? Frost was petrified to go into the forest alone, and she probably never would. The city was her home, the city was her life, and yet, why was she out here?
Her mind was swimming with questions and she was not the cat she was only a mere hour ago, who's presence you could detect by just the pride rolling off of her, and the way she carried her head. But now, she was sullen, head hung low, wary of humans who frequented around here, terrified their offspring would try to pick her up. Not that it would matter, she'd give them a good clawing that would force them to drop her anyways. Why was she out here? She asked herself that several times before sighing out loud. Maybe it was to get away, or enjoy the fresh air, which swam in her lungs with much more ease than the pollution of the city.
Stretching her body out she extended her paws out and arched her back till she was pleased before staring down at the wide expanse of sand before her. She hated the feeling of sand beneath her paws, it was nothing like the steady, firm ground of the city which she could rely on. No, the sand was unpredictable, shifting, moving with every entity that was there to manipulate it, and the sand was not trusting.
Frost peered up, ears prickling at the sight of another cat. A cat with a light orange pelt which almost made him appear white in the sunlight. As the wind blew towards her again, she parted her jaws so she could scent him, noting he was male. Still unwary of her foe, the sand, she called out without much fear, having regained her courage.
"Hey you! What are you doing out here?"

He liked the air here. And the sound of the waves. In fact he liked everything about this place besides the people. He was relaxed untill a voice could be heard above the sound of the waves. He froze out of suprise. 'Uh oh. Another cat.' He thought befre turing his head to see the unknown cat. He hoped they wrre friendly. He didn't like to fight. He hadn't even noticed the other cat. Because he ws upwind he couldn't smell anything. Or hear anything besides the ocean. The other cat was white. Brown in some places and seemed a bit smaller than him. Though he shrugged because they weren't close so he really determine is he was right or if his eyes were deceving him.
Noticing that he was probably supposed to respond, he stood up and replied, "Relaxing. Not looking for trouble so go away if that's what you're here for." He wasn't about to let another cat just walk up and start something when he was trying to relax. His shoulder was hurting him but he stood tall anyways in case it would scare off the other cat. He took a few steps towards the cat. From this far away and being upwind he couldn't tell anything about it. Then his thoughts shifted back to being cheery. 'What if we can be friends!' though he thought this every time he found another cat It rearely happened. Too many cats on the streets were rude and only looking for a fight or food. This beach wasn't need any territories, though the grass did hold some mice and groundhogs.

Frost's ears prickled to hear the other respond to her. He seemed to hesitate before he spoke, and she was quite amused, but also a tad disappointed. This was exactly what she was talking about! Cats were mistrustful of each other for good reason too. With a new fire in her eyes for her idea, she bravely set out forward towards the tom, ignoring the squishy feeling of sand beneath her paws. It was a lot hotter than she expected, and thought this cat better have been worth the discomfort. Tail waving, once she was within ear shot she replied,"I'm not looking for trouble, its quite the opposite really." She stood a few feet away from him unsure if he was aggressive or not. He really didn't seem it, but no one could be too careful.
Now that she was closer, she could tell the tom was larger than her, and indeed his pelt was a light orange. It was an odd coat color, but none the less nice to the sight. His most notable feature however, was his startling blue eyes, which she was envious of. Her brown eyes weren't much of a sight to behold, they were muddy colored and bland. But not that she was one to care for appearances, she could honestly care less about her own coat half the time.
"I don't mean to intrude or anything." She meowed at him, eager to get her paws out of the sand already. This had been a horrible idea.

But after seeing the cat stop he relaxed more. "Not here to cause trouble, eh?" He sat down and started to lick a single paw. "So what ARE you here for then?" He asked not seeming so defensive as before. Normally he'd cheer up to see how the other cat reacted. So this was more of a test but if they reacted well he'd just be himself. Though, this was how he normally acted. Hoping the way his attitude changed would make the other cat calm down as well. It sounded like a female cat. Which would explain why she was a bit smaller, though it really didn't matter.
He eyed her. Seems safe enough to hold a conversation with at least. 'must he hot for her with all that fur.' He noted in his mind.He quickly looked away after noticing he had drifted into though while staring at her. "The ocean's nice today. Probably nice and cool as well." He said, changing the subject. Though much conversation wasn't going on at that time anyways. He' never really met any nice females so this was definitely an interesting experience. His blue eyes locked once again while he was lost in thought. This time though he was looking at the ocean. Which was much easier to not seem creepy.

His cool and aloof bravado was not impressing her. Trying to contain herself, she decided against mimicking his personality. She couldn't tell if that was how he normally was or he was just acting. Not that it mattered, she'd been given the cold shoulder plenty of times before. "My names Frost," she replied tail flicking around as she ignored his original question. "What's yours?"
Frost was just about dying in this heat, the sand seemed to be magnifying the suns cruel waves. She shifted uncomfortably, glancing around in the hopes to find shade. Maybe she could lure the tom to a shady spot closer to the city. She squinted skeptically at the ocean when he mentioned it, watching blue ways lap against the sandy shore. She wasn't scared to get her paws wet, but the thought of having her whole body engulfed by this water wasn't exactly her cup of tea. Realizing the others gazed had wandered off, she twitched her whiskers. "Its not polite to look away from me when we're having a conversation," she teased, waiting for his reaction.

"I'm Blaze." He thought about it for a moment. "Our names are quite opposites, huh?" He said looking away once more only to turn back to face here when he heard he say it was impolite. "Ah, sorry I didn't mean to..." He blinked. "With all that fur, would you like to get out of the sun?" He stood up once again, expecting her to agree to move elsewhere. "are you from the city? or are you a house pet who wandered too far from home?" He said with a slight giggle. He didn't actually mean that. Obviously this cat wan't a pet.
His ears twitched at the scream of a small child who was running into the ocean. They were so noisy! Blaze was a bit annoyed by all the kids carelessly screaming and running around throwing the sand around. "How impolite of them. Those humans, to be so noisy and clumsy." He shifted his paws.

She tilted her head at his comment before thinking about it. She began laughing softly, shaking her head at him. He seemed pretty okay in her books. "Yea, you're right." She responded, clearly amused. Frost was about to tell him she was only joking, but then he offered to get out of the shade. Her ears prickled at the prospect of this and she gave him an eager nod.
"I'd really appreciate that." She sighed, tail tip flicking. Suddenly she made a sour face at being called a pet, whiskers twitching and she turned her head towards him, relaxing when she noticed he was kidding. "Haha, you're quuuuite the funny guy, Blaze."
Frost tensed at the small human blundering around in sand screeching like a bafoon. She stared at it without too much enjoyment written across her face. Those humans were horrible, but she wasn't going to start that rant here and now. "What do they care?" She huffed, tilting her head in thought.
With a whisk of her tail she signaled for the other to follow her away from the shore, bouncing a little happier on the familiar terrain now, seeking shelter behind a small building. At last, shade. She purred appreciatively, flopping down on the cool floor. "Thanks. You don't know what a drag it is to have all this fur."

Hopeing not to do anything to offend her. Her reaction to being called a pet made Blaze laugh. "Thanks, I try." He said with a Happier tone. "I could tell from the start you weren't any pet." His head spun around and nose crincled at the smell of a human coming too close. He watched it angrily to make sure it was only grabbing a ball and not coming to close to them. "I still don't like them much." He turned his had back to face Frost. "Moving would probably be a great idea. Get out of the sun and away from these stupid humans."
Blaze watched her walk away a bit before following. With each step he took, he bounced a bit. His tail moved like a dogs and his eyes gleamed. His energy was always overflowing. Especially when he was with another friendly cat. He sat down close to Frost, but far enough to where it wouldn't be creepy. His muscles relaxed not that they where out of the heat of the sun. Though the sun felt good on him he wasn't going to stay out too long anyways. "Sure thing. I may not have long fur myself but my brother is just fluff so I know somewhat what it's like." His voice trailed off as he added a small "I wonder how he is..." But he quickly picked his vioce back up to speak once again.
"I hope you don't mind me asking, but did you ever start out as a pet or have you been on the streets your whole life?" He was curious about this cat. He was about every cat but it's rare to find one that's friendly enough to talk to. "I've never seen you around either. How come?" He quickly added, "Where do like to hang out most?"
